Int'l congress on plant tissue culture & biotechnology to be held next year in Beijing
The 11th Congress of the International Association for Plant Tissue Culture and Biotechnology (IAPTC&B) will be held from August 13 to 18, 2006, in Beijing. It will be jointly organized by CAS, IAPTC&B and Peking University.
IAPTC&B, founded in 1963, with over 2,000 members in more than 85 countries, is the largest, oldest, and most comprehensive international professional organization in the field of plant tissue culture and biotechnology. For over four decades, the quadrennial IAPTC&B congress have provided scientific leadership and served as a major international forum for the exchange of scientific information and professional interaction.
With the assistance of the Executive Committee of the IAPTC&B, the International, National and Local Advisory Committees, and many prominent friends of the IAPTC&B, we have developed a truly world-class scientific program for the 11th IAPTC&B Congress, says Prof. XU Zhihong, president of the Congress and of Peking University.
"The congress will feature plenary and symposia lectures by distinguished colleagues and posters on all major aspects of plant biotechnology, highlighting the important applications of plant biotechnology to food production, human health and nutrition, conservation of species and the environment, and human welfare," Xu adds.
